May 2, 2009 – On the Road to Thame
On early Saturday morning we visited the famous Namche Market. Soon afterwards we were on the trail to Thame. The road to Thame is colourful, peaceful and fascinating. We saw very few people on the trail; some local Sherpa’ returning from market and just a few other travellers. There were stops along the way to visit beautiful Sherpa women selling a variety of items. We all looked in fascination and awe at the religious art and we felt that we were being taken step by step into a really remote area.
Of course we were also on the path to Tibet. We stopped in Thame but the next stop up the valley from Thame is Nanpa La and the border of Tibet.
