Temba called the BAI office in Canada from the Eco Lodge in Lobouche Tuesday evening to report that the team has made it to Lobouce. He told us the weather is good now that the team is at nearly 5000 meters and is at the edge of the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Lobouche can be a beautiful spot in the evening with the massive summit of Nuptse towering over the glacier and the village.

Temba also reported that the team saw a little snow yesterday and Phriche. They enjoyed visiting the Himalayan Rescue Association clinic and meeting Dr. Madeleine Martindale, who is a physician there. After they visited the clinic Madeleine came to share tea with the group in their lodge.

Now that the group is getting close to Everest Base Camp they are finding the lodges crowded with Everest climbers on the way to B.C. Temba said the Eco Lodge is very full with expedition climbers.

Tomorrow will be a big day. The team will travel all the way to Gorak Shep, which will be location of the highest lodge they will sleep in on this trek, just a ½ day walk from Base Camp. In the afternoon, if their legs and lungs hold out they will try to ascend to the top of Kala Pattar, for the magnificent views of Everest from the top. Tune in tomorrow to see how they do.
