October 9, 2008 – The River Ways of Rio Parnaiba Delta

This photo can be a little deceiving. There is actually an
old village buried under the sand! Nearby is a new
town that has been built with all new buildings.
As you can see, fishing is hard work
Our driver Tiberio takes a stroll on the beach to check out
the depth of the water before we drive across
Along the river ways of the Rio Parnaiba Delta we saw
amazing vegetation and wildlife. Here our guide, Pedro,
cuts a sample of the basal wood for us to examine
We all got out of the paddle boat and had an excellent feast
of fresh shrimp and crab
Once we were finished paddling we headed back to our cozy motorboat
