Bolivia Expedition Dispatch
June 16, 2008 – The Bolivia 2008 Team Arrives!
The group arrived on two different mornings at La Paz Bolivia’s El Alto Airport, elev. 13,323 ft (4061 meters) above sea level. Our team members arrived from Canada, the United States and England, all via Miami. Their flight landed as a new winter day was dawning. We are just a few days before winter solstice here in the Southern Hemisphere. There is perhaps no more extreme passenger airline experience in the world than leaving sub tropical Miami at sea level, flying through the night and landing at El Alto on the Bolivian Altiplano. The views of 6000 meter peaks near the airport were exciting.
La Paz is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. This is the view from our hotel in the center of La Paz.
