June 20 – BAI Team Reaches the Crater
We received a message from Nicholas who was happy to announce that all team members reached the crater of Kilimanjaro today at 18,700 feet (5700 meters). Tonight they will sleep in the crater and then attempt to reach the summit when they awake in the early morning. By sleeping in the crater the team will have a shorter summit day. It may only take two to three hours to reach the summit from this point. We wish them luck and our thoughts are with them during their summit day tomorrow. |
