Hi this is Jim [Barr] calling from Arusha, the capital of Tanzania after our successful summit of Kilimanjaro. A 7 day ascent left us with a 2 day descent off of Africa’s highest peak and took us through 3 separate eco-systems. At the top, we were in the arctic region and then we came down into the sierra moorlands and then into the rain forest where we camped at Barafu camp where we spent a great night of celebration. We played some cards and had some great laughs with our awesome Berg Adventures team who helped us with our summit.

After making our way through the lower rain forest jungles of Kilimanjaro yesterday, we stopped in at Linde Elementary school to pick up the pen pal letters that we will be bringing back to the kids in Edmonton. It was a great time seeing the Tanzanian kids again after being up on the mountain for 9 days. It’s going to be even greater to be back at the hotel and having a shower and a swim in the pool

Today we are with our driver, David, who is going to be taking us to the Ngorongoro Crater to start our 3 day safari. Our adventure continues here in the Kilimanjaro region - I look forward to catching up with you again and continuing to share with you our epic adventure here in Africa. Kwaheri (goodbye) and talk to you soon.
