June 21, 2006 - Summer Solstice Brings the New Year
Happy New Year from Copacabana, no I do not have HAPE. Most of the team woke very early this morning to greet the ‘coming of the sun’ with the start of the New Year. The Amara trace their origins back to the time of Tiwanaku and many people in Copacabana and around the area have made their way to the top of a high lookout over Titicaca, and they are ready to greet the sun as it comes above the horizon. We have Amara musicians here and television cameras. Our team is looking very fit, healthy and very happy to take part in this traditional celebration. [celebration music continues…] |
