Berg Adventures International Kilimanjaro Machame Route Cybercast 2006

Meagan’s Update:

Today we successfully summited Kilimanjaro. We left at about midnight and it took us about 6 to 7 hours to get to the summit. We were marching along in the dark with a group behind us. The stars were so close I felt that you could reach out and touch them and marching along in the dark for hours it was very mesmerizing. When we were about an hour from the summit the sun began to rise and it was the most amazing view I have ever seen. Glaciers in every direction, beautiful valleys and hills, truly amazing. The last hour was really tough with the altitude but we made it to the top!

Scott’s Update:

I’m still pretty tired after walking for 6 hours in the middle of the night. On the way up all I could think of was the beautiful scenery at sea level that I should explore but once I got up there it was definitely worth it.
