Matt gets some African dancing tips

February 20 – Our Safari Adventure Begins

[Update from Wally Berg]

Dancing with the locals at our lodgeToday the group left Arusha in 8 land cruisers and began their journey to the wildlife plains of Tanzania.  The drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara is so beautiful.  Lake Manyara is one of Tanzania’s smallest national parks but its vegetation is diverse, ranging from savanna to marshes and acacia woodland.

The group stopped for lunch at our favorite spot, the Serena Lodge.  The lodge overlooks the lake and everyone was treated to a spectacular view while enjoying their lunch.  After lunch we saw giraffes, elephants and many, many baboons.  The park is well known for its birdlife, tree climbing lions and hippos.

After a full day of wildlife viewing the group settled in at our beautiful lodge. After dinner the local entertainment kept them dancing and singing into the night.  It was a great first day on safari!
