October 16th - Busy season in the Khumbu

This is Wally Berg from Phakding.

Amelie , Dafna, Mark and myself are just enjoying sitting out on the sun and having a lunch in Phakding. We are back down on the Dudh Khosi river valley - it is green again - there are flowers planted along many of the walkways along the Sherpa’s home here.

We left the National Park a short time ago and we are on our way back to Lukla. I have to say we reported to one another some satisfaction that we trekked early in October as we did up to Base Camp. The number of Yaks and the fresh-faced new trekkers walking down the trail today is pretty overwhelming.

It seems to be a busy season here in the Khumbu, good news to our Sherpa’s friends who ran busy up the valley and we also have seen a good numbers of folks who have great adventures ahead of them, it is fun to exchange news of the Khumbu and wish them well as they go along. But we have to admit that we feel a little bit privileged to be there before the height of the big season arrived.

We missed Steve; I know he is still at the Yak and Yeti and we are going to see him - weather permitting - and it looks like it will, as soon as tomorrow morning.
