December 28 – Down from the Mountain, Off on Safari

Sandy reported in from the Arusha Hotel the evening of the 27th.  Our group of climbers, Annette, Kevin, Sharon and Sandy has all returned to town from the mountain.  Sandy said that the goodbye celebration with August, Stratton, Filipian and all the rest of the staff and porters as the team left Kilimanjaro at the Mweka park gate was a heart-warming and genuine experience for all involved.  The team offered their appreciation for a hard working and dedicated staff before they drove back to town.

This morning our group is off on the next leg of their African adventure.  Many of you have already read accounts of the adventures that Coz / McCauley group had today on their way to Ngorongoro Crater.  At the same time Annette, Kevin, Sandy, and Sharon, who are now joined by Bryant Jackson, are off to Tanrangire National Park , the land of baobab trees and classic wild African landscapes.  It is the best place in East Africa to watch family groups of elephants.  After this beginning our group will also travel on to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro.  Sharon and Bryant will continue from there on to the vast expanse of Serengeti.  We hope to hear frequently from them all as they continue their exploration and adventure in Africa .  We will post the news as it comes in.
