December 18 - Reaching High Points
Keith reaches Gillman’s Point at 18,638 ft (5685m) Mike reaches Uhuru Point at 19,340 ft (5895m) Hello this is Mike Ehlerman calling from Kilimanjaro National Park to report on our progress. I was sick for a day but Keith ate my share of all the amazing and incredible food which is served like it’s coming out of a five star restaurant. Last night at 11:15pm we left for the summit and Keith reached a new high at over 18,000 feet (5486m), over a vertical mile higher than he’d ever been before. I made it to the summit and saw the incredible towers of ice surrounding the crater. We are all very tired and we are all healthy and looking forward to coming home and my Swahili dancing has really improved. |
