July 30, 2007 – Soaking in the Sights of St. Petersburg

St. Isaac’s Cathedral

While we were at the ballet, Alex and Lina went across to the Hermitage. Alex had the pleasure of doing the private tour of the Hermitage with Lina. He told me that not only was she a great guide, but he was amazed by the amount of art that he could see in just a short time there. Weather you wanted to see Van Gough, Rembrant, Picasso, you are wandering around seeing the masterpieces that you can’t believe are in such a small area and of course you don’t even dent the surface in a couple of hours in the Hermitage. Probably the best way to do it is to go in there quickly with Lina.

Our tour yesterday was very full, as you can tell. Those of us who were headed to the ballet had not had a chance to eat, so it was interesting to watch my friends from the hotel bring out sandwiches. They were not on paper plates, of course, but on full china from the hotel. They handed them to Wes, Lida, John and I just before we went in the private car over to see the ballet.

Wes & Lida enjoy sandwiches on fine china!
