July 22 - The luck of a four-leaf clover

Listen to Audio of Wally's Call (.wav)

Our group takes a breather on our first Caucasus hike

Fun on the climb. The wildflowers are beautiful. The glaciers of the Caucasus … (lost transmission) … as we walk the trails on these days of hiking and conditioning that we are doing right now. It our second full day in the Caucasus mountains …(lost transmission) … it is absolutely beautiful. Charles Martin walked up to me with a big grin on his face and a four leaf clover he had found this morning to prove there are good things to come.

We are certainly having a great time. (Lost transmission) … yesterday we spent time conditioning and we got our first … (lost transmission) … and that was inspiring. Today we hiked even higher, climbing to about 2,500 meters (8,200 feet). As I mentioned the wildflowers are amazing and the mountain scenery all about us … (lost transmission) … they had no idea that the Caucasus was this beautiful.

Charles and DekeLast night we had a good spirited and competitive session of backgammon that got rather spirited. We had a good night after that.
