May 8 - Saturday Market in Namche Bazaar

Everest (left) and Lhotse (right)It is the 8th of May, we were all up early today in Namche, it is Saturday market day which you’ve probably heard a lot about it, we did go down to catch the market very early in the morning when all the action happened there, porters have carried things up from the lowlands, it is for sale for a few hours in the morning then everyone is packed up and headed back home before the afternoon.

Amy and Will, not surprisingly, being back together, and Will recuperating from the early stages of his Everest attempt, they decided to stay at the Khumbu lodge in Namche one more night and the rest of us took out walking uphill for the Everest view hotel.

BAI camp at KhundeWe were rewarded by amazing views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and of course Everest as we approached the Everest View Hotel and as we sat out on the deck there and sipped tea in the mid-morning sun, then we proceeded on to the villages of Khumjung and Khunde, walking along the wall trails into these colourful and really classic and pretty sherpa villages, much more peaceful than Namche, which is a commercial town.

We are resting here tonight, in a camp, it is the first night actually that we slept in Berg Adventures tents, the other nights we have been in lodges. Tomorrow we move on to Pangboche and we will meet up with Will and Amy along the way, we will all be at Ang Temba’s house in Panboche tomorrow night.
