Bolivia Expedition Dispatch - Climbing Huayna Potosí and Parinacota
May 15 - 17, 2019 – Torotoro National Park
The past three days Chris, Micheline and Berg Adventures Cultural guide were spent in a very remote area of Bolivia.
Torotoro National Park was established in 1989. It is situated in the northern Potosí department, 140 km south of Cochabamba at altitudes between 2000 and 3500m above sea level, with canyons as deep as 300 meters. It includes typical features of karst terrain like caves and dolines.
It took a 1 hour flight then 250 km of roads rutted but under constructions - 5 hours by truck over dirt roads to get to Torotoro where lots of activities were planned such as rappelling, cave explorations with rock climbing inside, viewing dinosaur’s foot prints and hiking in a beautiful canyon.
As always Chris made friends feeding the street dogs on the way!
Special thanks to Chris and Micheline for their photos.
