Everest Base Camp Trek and the High Passes – Trip Description
This is the ultimate trekking experience in the Everest region of Nepal.
You will go home being able to say that you have seen it all, from the Sherpa villages where you will interact with the locals to the high, remote passes where you will see the majesty of Everest and feel the wild Himalayan expanses on the border of Nepal and Tibet. There is no other trek like this. Superb hiking on isolated trails is combined with the comforts and amenities of the lodges we use in the Sherpa villages.
Our goal is to hike over the two wild passes in the Khumbu region, the Renjo La and the Cho La. When we arrive in Gokyo we will also climb Gokyo Ri at 17,576 ft (5357 m). Before Base Camp we will climb Kala Patar at 18,300 ft (5577 m), and walk on the broken glacial moraine of the Khumbu Glacier all the way into Everest Base Camp, at 17,500 ft (5333 m). All the passes and peaks on this trek are not technical, but involve only rugged mountain walking. You will spend 19 days in a land where life is simple, trails are steep and the air is thin.
Internet Broadcast
Your adventure in the Khumbu will be cybercast to the Internet via satellite phone. Daily dispatches will be posted on the Web on BergAdventures.com. This will be a great way for your group to share stories and photographs of your adventures while “on the scene”. In the past, our dispatches have been used by family, friends and supporters to track the progress of our groups, by classrooms to learn about the wild places we visit, and by local newspapers to report stories of interest.
