November 26 - Moving from Vinson Base Camp

Listen to Audio of Wally's Call (.wav)

It’s the 26th of November in the afternoon and Martin, Woodie and I have begun our carry up from Vinson Base Camp.  If the conditions go really well, completely favorable, we’ll be above Vinson Base for the next 5 or 6 days as we attempt to climb Mount Vinson.

The voice dispatches will continue to come to let you know how we are doing.  I just attempted to upload some photos but even though the Panasonic Toughbook is working great our Iridium satellite connection is too slow for me to get a data connection necessary for these photos.  I’ll try to make them smaller when we are back at Vinson Base.  They are amazing images of these guys both Woodie and Martin digging in and making a home for themselves on the ice in Antarctica.

Without photos we’ll continue to keep you posted as we move up from here.  It’s a big mountain above but we got a solid little team and I have a great feeling that we are going to have great adventures and a great time living on the ice above here and climbing closer to the summit of Mount Vinson.
