September 22, 2006 - Searching for Outlet Stores

The trekkers take a short rest, some look like they are posing for a Charlie’s Angels poster

This is Leila Silveira reporting from Thame after a great day. We left Namche around 9am after lots of packing, getting organized and saying goodbye to a place that by the time we left was feeling like home.  Soon, after a steep hill on the outskirts of Namche we were all surprised to hear that Cami, Maria and Karen had actually been there the day before, just to check the area out.  Jim joked that they were probably searching for some Outlet Shops and Steve jumped in and said maybe Wal-Mart.

ABrowsing along the trail for something the buynyway, we are a great group, always joking and laughing and we couldn’t be getting along any better. I also would like to mention that the entire team is doing really well, healthy, strong and no signs of high altitude sickness. Maybe laughing on the trail is the secret.

After just 2 hours, we were already at our lunch spot. No one was really hungry but we all ate quite well. Steve mentioned that he had heard that people lose weight on this trip. Not on our deluxe trek, we are always offering and supplying great food and our table wherever we go is always full of different cookies, biscuits, several types of teas, peanut butter, and so many items that it is hard to describe.  Ang Temba said that it looks like a store in Namche, if you want anything you are very likely to find what you need right there. We have now even found whole wheat bread for Steve.

Tonight we watched a DVD movie, United 93; all the members were glued to the screen and even all the Sherpas in the lodge joined us. It was a very emotional moment. We all were very amazed how well the movie was done and our hearts went out for all the passengers on the flight. During moments like this it makes us realize how precious life is and how lucky we are.

Tomorrow morning we will visit the monastery and I have a feeling that it will be a very special moment for our team as well.
