This March our Berg Adventures team travelled to Indonesia for one of the most spectacular climbs out there; Carstensz Pyramid 16,023ft/4,884m. Dick Morse, Chet Sutterlin, Bill Cole, Jennifer Loeb, Don Healy and Urszula Tokarska along with BAI guide Brent Bishop all met in Bali on March 3rd ready to take on the challenge of climbing the highest summit on an island on earth. They trekked through thick jungles, over raging rivers and passed many Dani and Mani villages and tribes to reach their Base Camp. You can see their trek to base camp by checking out their Expedition Recap Dispatch Part I.
Their summit climb was a long one day rock-climb on abrasive limestone. They climbed along fixed lines and made a thrilling Tyrolean traverse along the summit ridge. Their challenging day was rewarded by incredible views of the surrounding mountains from the top.
